Construction began Monday on the second phase of the new City University of Hong Kong campus in Dongguan, Guangdong province, further strengthening its capacity to serve the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Located in the Songshan Lake Science City, the second phase project will focus on building academic and research support facilities, as well as canteens, student dormitories, and apartments for international students, according to a statement released by the university.

It will also include outdoor sports venues and landscape greening projects to create an international modern campus that is ideal for study, research, and innovation, the statement said.
The second phase is expected to be completed in December 2027 and will begin operation the following year. The previous phase opened in November 2023. Its establishment was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2024.
For the coming autumn semester, the university will offer undergraduate programs in assorted technology and engineering subjects. It will also have numerous master's programs covering competitive future industries.
