The tennis test event for the 15th National Games concluded successfully on August 17 at Hengqin International Tennis Center. Serving as the venue's inaugural tournament after upgrades and a critical dress rehearsal for the main Games, the event conducted comprehensive stress tests on competition systems, venue operations, and support services—gathering vital insights for November's premier tournament.
The event featured 584 junior talents from 23 teams across 19 Guangdong cities. Over eight days of intense competition spanning 681 matches, 25 champions were crowned. Guangzhou dominated the medal tally with 13 golds, followed by Shenzhen with 12. In the overall team ranking, Guangzhou claimed top honors, with Shenzhen and Dongguan securing second and third places, respectively.
Beyond the athletic excellence on display, the test event rigorously evaluated core operational areas, including venue management, competition organization, security protocols, medical support, volunteer services, logistics, ceremony production, and media operations.
Critical systems such as venue circulation routes, timing/scoring technologies, volunteer deployment, and security measures operated seamlessly throughout. Athletes praised the professionalism of the organizing team and the quality of logistical support.
"We applaud this test event," stated Liu Ziyu and Wen Guobao—winners of the Group A men’s doubles title from Guangzhou—noting, "Hengqin International Tennis Center delivers premium courts and services fully aligned with 15th National Games standards. Competing in this magnificent professional venue was a thrilling experience."
The successful conclusion marks Hengqin's official entry into "15th National Games mode." Through competition-tested refinements, Hengqin stands ready to welcome athletes and visitors worldwide—poised to deliver a tennis tournament that celebrates athletic excellence and showcases Hengqin's international vitality.
