The 15th National Games roller sports finals kicked off on October 15 in Huizhou, with around 400 athletes from 24 teams competing for eight gold medals.
The event features three categories: speed roller skating, freestyle roller skating, and inline rollerball. Making its National Games debut, inline rollerball is held at Huizhou Gymnasium from October 15–19, while speed and freestyle competitions take place at Huizhou Sports School on October 18–19.
Inline rollerball includes 19 men's and women's teams. Speed roller skating features men's and women's team points events plus a 3,000m mixed relay, with 21 teams and 124 athletes participating. Freestyle roller skating includes speed slalom and mixed double freestyle slalom events.
As the host province, Guangdong fields strong teams in all categories. Its men's and women's rollerball teams are national champions, the freestyle team—led by national-level athlete Pan Qiguan—is a top medal contender, and the speed team, composed of local athletes, will compete in all three events.
Opening night at Huizhou Gymnasium featured intense inline rollerball matches, with Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, and Beijing winning their first-round games.
