Tennis singles quarter-finalists and doubles semifinalists decided at 15th National Games

On November 17, the tennis competitions at the 15th National Games concluded the third round of singles and the quarterfinals of doubles at the Hengqin International Tennis Center, finalizing the singles quarter-finalists and doubles semifinalists.

The first match on center court saw Zhang Zhizhen defeat Nidunjian Zan 6:4, 7:6(6). He will face Zhou Yi in the quarterfinals. Subsequently, top seed Bu Yunchaokete beat Wang Aoran 6:3, 6:3, setting up a marquee quarterfinal clash against Shang Juncheng, who advanced with a 6:0, 6:2 victory over Liu Hanyi.

In the women's singles, the match between second seed Yuan Yue and two-time defending champion Wang Qiang on Court 1 attracted many fans and fellow players unwilling to miss this highlight encounter.

Wu Yibing was spotted in the stands, while Zhang Zhizhen, Shang Juncheng, Zhu Lin, Wang Yafan, and Zhou Yi watched from the sidelines. The match concluded with Yuan Yue leading 7:5, 2:0 when Wang Qiang retired due to injury.

On November 16, the individual tennis events at the 15th National Games continued at the Hengqin International Tennis Center, with Wang Xinyu, Shang Juncheng, and Coleman Wong all advancing, finalizing the men's and women's singles round of 16.

In a key match on center court, men's singles second seed and Hong Kong player Coleman Wong defeated Hubei's Chen Ye 2-0 to secure a place in the men's singles Round of 16. Participating in his first National Games, he remarked that the scale exceeded his expectations, stating, "It's close to home, the atmosphere is great, and I'm treating every match like a final."

In the women's singles, top seed and Guangdong star Wang Xinyu needed only 56 minutes to defeat Guizhou's Wang Xiaotong 6:2, 6:0, advancing to the Round of 16.

After her match, Wang Xinyu said that returning to the National Games is both an honor and a duty for her: "Guangdong has always given me tremendous support, and I am very happy to represent my hometown."
