Guangzhou Organizing Committee for the 15th National Games launched a cross-city promotional campaign in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on July 14, leveraging the latter's legacy as the host of the recent Asian Games. The event marks the latest stop in the "15th National Games, 15 Cities" nationwide tour ahead of the official opening of the sporting competition in November.
This event aims to showcase regional collaboration. In Hangzhou, which hosted the 19th Asian Games in 2023, campaign activities centered around West Lake, where mascots Xi Yangyang and Le Rongrong drew crowds for photo opportunities.
The tour then shifted to Hangzhou-based Wensli Group, an official supplier for multiple international sporting events, including the Asian Games and the Olympics. At its innovation center, Guangzhou's mascots posed with Hangzhou's 19th Asian Games mascots (Congcong, Lianlian, Chenchen), symbolizing continuity between the two host cities.
Visitors observed AI-driven silk printing technology that produces customized scarves in under two hours, including a Guangzhou-Hangzhou Unity design featuring the mascots and West Lake landmarks.
The cities further exchanged digital tributes via coordinated light displays on landmark buildings in both metropolises. Concurrently, local culinary specialties became an informal point of cultural exchange, with Hangzhou dishes like West Lake vinegar fish and Longjing shrimp alongside Guangzhou's white-cut chicken and char siu pork.
The upcoming National Games, marking the first-ever regional co-hosting model by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, will commence with its opening ceremony in Guangzhou on November 9. Since the "15th National Games, 15 Cities" nationwide tour launched in Beijing on December 18, 2024, this promotional campaign has energized multiple cities, rallying public enthusiasm for the historic multi-destination event.
