Three major sports events will draw nearly 30,000 participants to Danxia Mountain in Shaoguan, Guangdong, this winter, offering outdoor challenges set against the scenic landscapes of northern Guangdong.
The events include a 50km hiking race on November 14, a cycling race on November 15 and a marathon on December 12. The hiking event is expected to attract 15,000 participants, while the cycling race will feature 1,500 competitors and the marathon will have 10,000 runners. Registration for the hiking and cycling events is now open, while registration for the marathon is expected to open soon.
The hiking and cycling routes will showcase Danxia Mountain's red sandstone peaks, countryside and ancient villages. The marathon route will wind through downtown Shaoguan, passing landmarks such as Fengcai Tower and Tongtian Pagoda.
The events will also connect participants with experiences including the upgraded Danxia Mountain cableway, the Bazhai Scenic Area, via ferrata climbing and night tours. Participants can enjoy one free admission to the main scenic area from one week before to one week after their event, while up to eight accompanying friends or family members can enjoy a 50 percent discount on admission tickets.
