Guangzhou's sports venues to offer the public free access on August 8

Guangzhou will mark China's 18th National Fitness Day on Saturday, August 8, by opening to the public city- and district-level sports venues free of charge. Sports consumption vouchers will also be available. Bookings can be made via the "Quntitong" (群体通) WeChat mini-program, by phone or in person at select venues. Here are some of the sports venues taking part. 

Tianhe Sports Center (天河体育中心)

Facilities such as badminton courts, swimming pools, tennis courts, a baseball field, a bowling alley and venues for gateball, pickleball, basketball and table tennis will be free. The outdoor fitness area will also be accessible. Booking details are available through the center's official channels.

Guangzhou Aquatic Sports Management Center (广州市水上运动管理中心)

Venues managed by the center, including Yuexiu Swimming Pool, Kuangquan Swimming Pool and Zhujiang Swimming Pool, will open to the public free of charge on August 8, offering swimming, football, tennis, badminton and pickleball facilities.

Guangzhou National Fitness Center (广州市全民健身中心)

The center will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with table tennis facilities on the ground floor, fitness equipment on the second floor and fitness classes on the third floor. Each visitor may book only one session per day.

Morning sessions from 9 a.m. to noon can be booked online through Quntitong at 9:30 a.m. on August 7. Sessions from noon to 9 p.m. must be reserved by phone (020-38455111) during working hours from August 6 to 8.

Guangzhou Badminton Management Center (广州市羽毛球运动管理中心)

Hall A will offer free access on August 8 across three sessions: 9 a.m. to noon, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations can be made through Quntitong.

Guangdong Olympic Sports Center (广东省奥林匹克体育中心)

Free access will cover the athletics track, swimming pool, tennis, football and table tennis facilities, as well as the smart sports park and outdoor fitness stations.

Guangzhou Gymnasium (广州体育馆)

Swimming, badminton, table tennis, basketball and pickleball facilities will be open free of charge on August 8. Reservations can be made online or on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.

Online and on-site reservations cannot be combined. Free tickets are non-transferable and cannot be resold. Swimmers should register at the pool reception in Hall 2, while participants in other activities should register at the customer service center.

Guangzhou Asian Games Town Gymnasium (广州亚运城综合体育馆)

Facilities including badminton, table tennis, basketball, football, tennis, squash and pickleball will be available free of charge.

Liwan District Public Sports Venues (荔湾体育馆)

Xijiao Swimming Pool, Liwan Gymnasium (badminton, table tennis, football), facilities operated by the Youth Sports Association, and Fangcun Sports Center will all open free of charge on August 8.

Each visitor may reserve a one-hour court session per day. Bookings cannot be canceled or modified. Entry requires a registered mobile number and valid ID. Slots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must bring their own sports equipment.

Haizhu District Public Sports Venues (海珠区属公共体育馆)

Baogang Stadium, Haizhu Gymnasium and Haizhu Sports Center will open to the public free of charge on August 8. Sports vouchers will be available for collection on-site, with online and telephone reservations also available.

Free slots are limited, and visitors are advised to check venue announcements for booking windows, which may vary. Some larger venues remain closed for maintenance.
