Shenzhen to host major global ice hockey event

The 2026 IIHF Men's Ice Hockey World Championship Division I, Group B will take place from April 29 to May 5 at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Longgang District.

As an integral part of the global competition system under the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the tournament will feature six teams: China, Romania, South Korea, Estonia, Spain and the Netherlands. A series of high-level matchups is expected to deliver a compelling ice hockey spectacle for audiences worldwide.

The competition will adopt a single round-robin format, with a total of 15 games to be played. The tournament winner will earn direct promotion to Division I Group A, adding further intensity and suspense to the contest.

The event is organized by the IIHF, co-hosted by the Chinese Ice Hockey Association and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, with support from the Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau. It is organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Media, Tourism and Sports Bureau and the Longgang District People's Government.

This marks another major international ice hockey event for Shenzhen, following its successful hosting of the IIHF Women's World Championship in 2023 and 2025.
