The 2025 Guangdong Youth Surfing Championships and the 15th National Games Surfing test events began on October 13 at Qing'ao Bay on Nan'ao Island in Shantou. Qing'ao Bay was selected as the official competition venue for surfing in the 15th National Games due to its consistent swells and gently sloping shallows.
The event attracted young surfers from across Guangdong province. Zhang Jinxing, a local athlete from Shantou, said: "Having the National Games surfing competition held in my hometown fills me with both thrill and pride. With just one month to go before the event, I will make the most of every moment to train hard and perform at my absolute best."
Leveraging its excellent coastal conditions, Nan'ao has successfully hosted multiple Asian and national-level water sports competitions, contributing to robust growth in local aquatic sports.
As the 15th National Games approaches, Shantou is intensifying preparations by upgrading sports facilities and showcasing the city's "pioneering spirit," while fostering an enthusiastic atmosphere for the National Games.
