The taekwondo competition of the 15th National Games began on September 26 at the Huizhou Gymnasium in Guangdong province. Over four days, 134 athletes from 33 teams will compete for eight gold medals.

The competition features eight weight divisions: men's 58kg, 68kg, 80kg, and over 80kg, and women's 49kg, 57kg, 67kg, and over 67kg.
On opening day, the men's 58kg and women's 49kg events showcased thrilling matchups. Guangdong's Huang Kefen and Zhejiang's Fu Xiaolu captured gold, with Huang securing the first taekwondo title of the 15th National Games.

As the host province, Guangdong has fielded eight top athletes. On September 27, Xiao Shaohong and Gu Wenjing will compete in the men's 68kg and women's 57kg categories, respectively.
