Guangdong City Football Super League launches nine matches on April 26, top teams in focus

The 2026 Guangdong City Football Super League (Yue Chao, 粤超) kicked off on the evening of April 25 with an opening match in which Guangzhou defeated Jiangmen 2-0, setting an energetic tone for the new season. More matches are scheduled to take place on April 26, across the province, continuing a packed weekend of football action.

Meizhou, widely regarded as China's "City of Football," stands out for its deep football tradition and strong grassroots foundation, making it one of the leading title favorites. Shenzhen, backed by robust urban resources, is also widely seen as a serious championship contender.

Driven by strong preparation and exceptionally high online engagement, its opening-round away match against Zhanjiang generated over 270,000 expressions of interest.
