A ceremony marking the 100-day countdown to the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games and the 10th Guangdong Provincial Games for Persons with Disabilities was recently held at the Maoming Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.
Featuring song and dance performances, a public initiative and theme music, the event unveiled "Blaze Toward the Future", an inspirational support song for the Provincial Games that brings youthful energy through its stirring melody.
As the host city of this major sporting event, Maoming has largely completed its preparations. The main venue complex of the Olympic Sports Center, consisting of one stadium and two gymnasiums, has been basically completed and put on trial operation. Construction, renovation and temporary facility work at 32 competition venues across districts and counties have also been largely completed. Beyond venue infrastructure, Maoming is seizing two major opportunities: the opening of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway and the hosting of the Provincial Games. With a total investment of approximately 11 billion yuan, the city is accelerating 23 key transportation projects. Volunteer recruitment, competition organization, logistical support, publicity and promotion are also advancing in a coordinated and orderly manner.
Since Zhanjiang hosted the 14th Guangdong Provincial Games in 2015, western Guangdong is once again welcoming the province's major multi-sport event after many years. With a refreshed urban landscape and warm hospitality, Maoming is ready to welcome the grand sporting event this August.
