Dongguan gears up for Yue BA season opener

The 2026 "Yue BA (粤BA)" Guangdong City Basketball League is set to ignite in late March, bringing together teams from all 21 cities across Guangdong.

In what is being hailed as an unprecedented scale for the tournament, the province has been divided into East and West competition areas. Dongguan finds itself in a highly competitive East area, squaring off against teams such as Shenzhen, Huizhou, and the defending champions, Heyuan.

On March 22, the Dongguan Men's Basketball Team will travel to Meizhou for its first away game of the regular season. This season will run through June, featuring a home-and-away single round-robin format. Fans are particularly anticipating April 25, when Dongguan—the ten-time champion—will host Heyuan in a crucial "revenge match."

The league follows a thrilling progression throughout the year.

King matches: September to October 2026

In addition, the Dongguan Fans Alliance is officially recruiting a cheering squad to Meizhou. Basketball enthusiasts of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Currently, transportation, meals, accommodation, and cheering uniforms are planned to be provided free of charge for selected participants. The 2026 Guangdong City Football Super League (Yue Chao粤超) is scheduled to run from April to November. Featuring 11-a-side men's teams from 21 cities, the tournament will serve as a vital platform for showcasing the sporting spirit of the 21 cities and fostering cultural exchange through football. The regular season of Yue Chao will kick off in late April, leading into a knockout stage and grand final in late 2026.
