Zhaoqing's Deqing cinnamon wins favor at Paris International Agricultural Show

At the end of February, cinnamon products from Deqing County, Zhaoqing City, were showcased at the 62nd Paris International Agricultural Show, where their natural aroma and premium quality attracted strong interest from overseas buyers. Deqing was the only county-level representative from Guangdong Province at the event.

At the exhibition, specialty products such as cinnamon tea and sachets proved especially popular, drawing attention from buyers from France, Spain, Africa and other regions and highlighting the industry's growing international potential. In recent years, local enterprises have also developed a range of higher value-added products, including cinnamon essential oils, cooling balms and anti-mite sprays, further expanding the use of cinnamon resources.

Behind these diverse products lies a steadily improving industrial chain. Deqing has established a collection network covering the county's major cinnamon-growing towns. Cinnamon leaves are processed through high-temperature, high-pressure distillation to extract essential oil, while the remaining leaf residue is converted into eco-friendly biomass pellet fuel, enabling efficient resource recycling.

At the same time, enterprises have accelerated transformation and upgrading by introducing automated production equipment to boost production capacity, while strengthening brand development and expanding into overseas markets.

Looking ahead, the Deqing cinnamon industry will continue to focus on natural, health-oriented production, strengthen R&D for medicinal and edible products, and further extend the industrial chain while improving quality to expand its global reach.
