A travel influencer from Egypt with a million online followers recently visited the coastal city of Shanwei in Guangdong province, sharing his experiences of local seafood and scenery with a global audience. Ahmed Elseny(@ahmedelseny) posted about his two-day trip, which included visits to a bustling fish market, a seaside coffee shop, and a traditional food street.

On his first day, Ahmed headed to Magong Seafood Market in Shanwei's urban area, where he bought fresh mantis shrimp and sampled oysters directly from a vendor. Later, he stopped at a café near Honghai Bay to enjoy the sea views, and in the evening, he explored Ermalu Food Street, trying local snacks including sweet flatbreads, which he described as a highlight. "The seafood in Shanwei is incredibly fresh, and the sea is so beautiful," he noted in a social media post.

The following day, Ahmed toured a small fishing village to see its recent renovations and visited an artificial beach, filming the clear coastal scenery for his followers. He concluded his trip with a Cantonese-style meal at the local mall, Haizhencheng.
Shanwei has been working to enhance its appeal by highlighting coastal resources and local food culture. Visits from international content creators like Ahmed help share Shanwei's fishing culture, marine scenery, and culinary stories with a broader audience.

Ahmed's posts about Shanwei attracted significant attention from overseas viewers, with many commenting that his footage showcased a lively, authentic side of the city. Located on the Pearl River Delta's eastern coast, Shanwei is increasingly positioning itself as a destination for travelers interested in relatively undeveloped coastal landscapes and fresh seafood.
