Public benefit concerts for August in Shenzhen

This August, Shenzhen Concert Hall's public benefit concert series will present a delightful lineup of performances, offering audiences refreshing musical afternoons.

From the "Songs of Nature" choral suite celebrating Shenzhen's landscapes to timeless Chinese and Western music, delightful vocals, the harmonica's metallic warmth, the piano's powerful resonance, and the zheng's serene plucking together will weave a rich tapestry of sound.

On Aug. 17, young composer Zhang Shichao joins Wang Fang (Executive Director) and Hu Manxue (Artistic Director) of the Little Golden Tree Multi-Ethnic Children's Choir for a lecture-concert exploring "Songs of Nature," a four-part choral suite inspired by Shenzhen's lush mountains, winding trails, and vibrant wildlife — leopard cats, egrets, sperm whales, and fireflies — painted through music. Zhang composed the suite, with lyrics by Wang.

Little Gold Tree premiered the vocal suite to widespread acclaim last year. Audiences will be treated to the piece as well as "Little Garden," another song created by Zhang.
