Jiangmen ushers in maple viewing season

As winter sets in across much of China, Guifeng Mountain National Forest Park in Jiangmen offers a striking contrast with its vibrant autumn foliage. The red, orange, and yellow maple leaves create a colorful scene in this subtropical landscape.

Many of the park's maples date back to the 1950s. The most impressive display centers around the historic Yutai Temple, where approximately 16 hectares of trees frame the traditional architecture. The leaves typically change color between November and January, with the deepest hues appearing after cold weather.

The combination of natural scenery and cultural heritage makes this area particularly popular with photographers. Sunlight on clear days enhances the leaves' translucent quality.

Visiting Information:

Best Time to Visit: The leaves are most vibrant from mid-December to early January, especially after a cold spell.

Main Attraction: The area around Yutai Temple (玉台寺) and the paths from Yongzhen Mountain Gate have the highest concentration of maple trees.

Photography Tips: Visit between mid-morning and mid-afternoon for optimal light. A polarizing filter can help enhance colors and reduce glare.

Hours & Admission: Park entry is free and available from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Yutai Temple is generally open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Getting There: Take bus 303 from Xinhui District or a tourist bus from Jiangmen. If driving, navigate to "Guifeng Mountain Scenic Area (圭峰山)" – parking is available at the base and partway up. A sightseeing bus (approx. CNY 30 one-way) also runs partway up the mountain.
