While much of China's plant life remains dormant in the winter, Yunfu Botanical Garden in Guangdong province stays vibrant with color.

The garden's camellias, celebrated as one of China's "Ten Famous Flowers," are the current highlight. Their large blossoms showcase rich reds and pinks, with yellow stamens brightening their centers. They're accompanied by two-toned hibiscus and Yulan magnolia, whose fuzzy buds are just beginning to unfurl.

Limited rainfall and moderate temperatures during the winter in Yunfu create favorable conditions for these cold-tolerant species. The camellias typically bloom from January through April, often reaching their peak around Chinese New Year.
