Hengqin Mangzhou Wetland Park has reopened following a year-long renovation, featuring new facilities and enhanced ecological spaces.
The upgrade included the redesign of the east entrance, the planting of mangroves, the construction of a 560-meter cross-lake boardwalk, waterway restoration, and the revival of traditional mulberry-based fish ponds. New additions include three bamboo bird-watching huts, two observation platforms, new rice fields, and an ecological stone beach. All signage throughout the park has also been updated.
The redesigned east entrance offers a smoother flow for visitors, while the improved signage makes navigation easier. Restored waterways now give pond edges a more natural appearance. The cross-lake boardwalk connects the park's east and west entrances, providing convenient access and an immersive viewing experience.
Ecological features have been expanded to enrich visitor experiences. Bird-watching huts and platforms provide quiet spaces for observing wildlife, while the rice fields and stone beach create habitats for endangered species such as the yellow-breasted bunting and the occasional Eurasian otter. The restoration of traditional mulberry fish ponds highlights the park's agricultural heritage.
