“China Travel” boom fuels Guangzhou Airport’s passenger hitting 10 mln

On August 6, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport received its 10 millionth inbound passenger of 2025 during the summer travel season, 41 days ahead of last year's pace.

International flight routes have continuously expanded in Guangzhou. The airport has added and resumed 18 regular international passenger routes, welcomed five new foreign-based carriers, and introduced two additional global destinations in 2025. It operates approximately 75 international passenger routes and 46 cargo routes weekly. Since the beginning of this year, the Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station has received over 67,000 international passenger flights.

The growth of “China Travel” has driven a significant surge in international visitors to Guangzhou. Foreign passenger volume at the airport has surpassed 3.82 million this year, representing a 37.4% year-on-year increase. Foreign travelers account for 38.2% of all cross-border passengers, marking a 4.4% increase from 2024.

Specifically, over 760,000 foreign travelers entered visa-free, reflecting a 123.5% year-on-year increase, which accounts for 46.7% of all inbound foreign arrivals. Nearly 50,000 passengers benefited from the visa-free transit policy, a rise of 25.6%. More than 500,000 international transfer passengers experienced seamless 24-hour direct transfers without immigration procedures.
