Blooms in winter draw crowds to Liuhua Lake Park in Guangzhou

In the midst of a mild Guangzhou winter, Liuhua Lake Park has become a popular destination as its signature hibiscus and rosy trumpet trees reach peak bloom. The park, located in the city's Yuexiu District, is seeing more visitors as people take advantage of the sunny weather to enjoy the flowers.

The Chinese hibiscus, known for its striking color transformation, is a particular highlight. The flowers open white in the morning, turn pink by afternoon, and deepen to a wine-red hue by evening. A short walk from the park's northeast gate, the rosy trumpet trees create a different visual effect, with clusters of flowers often shaken by the breeze into a "pink rain".

Visitors have been capturing the scene with their phones and cameras. While winter in much of China is associated with bare trees and cold temperatures, Guangzhou's milder climate allows flowers like the cotton rose hibiscus and rosy trumpet to bloom into December. This annual natural display has become a local highlight, blending horticultural interest with urban leisure.

Liuhua Lake Park is open daily from 6:00 to 22:00 and offers free admission. The site is accessible via Guangzhou Metro Line 2, Yuexiu Park Station, Exit C.
