Guangzhou's Baiyun District is set to launch an approximately 140-kilometer forest trail, creating a continuous ecological corridor for visitors of all ages, including families, seniors and outdoor enthusiasts.
Scheduled to open in February 2026, the trail will link three major ecological cores—Baiyun Mountain (白云山), the Nanhu Mountain Range (南湖山脉), including Fenghuang Mountain (凤凰山) and Liupian Mountain (六片山), as well as Maofeng Mountain (帽峰山)—and extend southward to connect with Tianhe District's Huolongfeng Forest Trail (火龙凤森林步道), forming a cross-district urban hiking network.
Constructed using low-impact methods such as hand-crafted paths and wooden boardwalks, the trail minimizes disturbance to native vegetation and natural landscapes. Gentle slopes, viewing platforms, and rest areas are incorporated throughout, along with three themed routes tailored to families, seniors, and hikers. Clear signage, emergency facilities, and eco-friendly guardrails further enhance safety and the overall visitor experience.
