Shenzhen Bay Culture Square to open on November 1

The Shenzhen Bay Culture Square, a 188,000㎡ cultural complex with global ambitions, will begin its soft opening on November 1. Covering four above-ground and three underground floors, the complex integrates four key functions into a cohesive design ecosystem.

Positioned as a hub for global design exchange and a platform for Chinese design worldwide, the square features nine major exhibition halls totaling around 50,000㎡. Organized into three zones—Permanent, Thematic, and International—it showcases the essence of design, its integration with daily life, and a broad global perspective.

As the prologue hall, Gallery 1 "Design100: Design·People·Life" explores the essence of design by asking: "What is design? Why design?" Featuring over 100 curated works by renowned Chinese designers and artists, it creates an immersive experience that invites visitors to reflect on design's origins, meaning, and value.

Gallery 2-1, "Dynamic Heritage: Chinese Design Narratives," examines ancient Chinese culture through a designer's lens. From written characters to daily life, it highlights how design is intricately woven into China's unique path of independent evolution.

In the Thematic Exhibition zone, the Digital Art Youth Project features Ruiwen Guo, Changcun Wang, Jiayu Liu, and Zheng Shi, showcasing their digital works on the atrium's massive screen. The project establishes a dynamic platform that supports the ongoing development of youth digital art.

The International Exhibition zone presents a global perspective through co-curated exhibitions with institutions such as Tate and the London Design Museum. It offers Chinese audiences insights into worldwide design trends while serving as a platform for two-way exchange between local and international designers.

As a comprehensive hub, it aims to be more than a display venue—serving as a sustainable, public platform for design learning that continuously advances design culture.
