A moderate cold front is expected to reach Guangdong on February 6, bringing lower temperatures and scattered rain as millions prepare to travel for the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday.

The provincial meteorological service forecasts that the cold air will arrive in the northern parts of Guangdong by Friday evening (February 6), moving south overnight and affecting central and southern regions by Saturday morning (February 7). Average temperatures are predicted to drop by 6–9 °C in central and northern areas, with slightly smaller decreases of 3–5 °C in the south. Light rain is anticipated across much of the province.
In Guangzhou, conditions are expected to shift from cloudy and foggy with isolated drizzle to cooler and windier weather from February 6 to 7. The city's maximum temperature is forecast to fall to the upper teens Celsius by February 8, down from the low 20s earlier in the week. Northerly winds are also expected to strengthen, with gusts potentially reaching force 7 in elevated areas and harbors.
The cooler, occasionally wet conditions may affect transportation and outdoor activities over the weekend. Residents and travelers are advised to monitor local weather updates and prepare for changing conditions.
