Southern China is set for a period of sweltering heat and unsettled skies this week, as subtropical high pressure dominates Guangdong's weather through Saturday before giving way to wetter conditions.

From September 4 to 6, most parts of the province will experience high temperatures ranging from 34°C to 37°C inland, and around 31°C to 33°C along the southern coast. Scattered thunderstorms are expected across northern, eastern, and western Guangdong, with some areas likely to see heavy downpours or even localized torrential rain.

By Sunday, the weather will start to change. Cooler air from the north and tropical clouds from the south are expected to converge over Guangdong. This will weaken the current high-pressure system, making it easier for tropical weather to approach the province and increasing the likelihood of heavier rain early next week.
