Cooler air moves into Guangdong, bringing a temperature drop

A cold front is affecting Guangdong Province, with temperatures expected to fall by 3°C–6°C across most areas between December 3 and 4. The National Meteorological Centre issued a blue cold wave alert on December 2, forecasting strong winds and cooling for parts of southern China, including northern Guangdong.

By the morning of December 4, the minimum temperature line of 0°C is expected to reach central Zhejiang, southern Anhui, and northern Hubei. In Guangdong, the cooling will progress from north to south, with central and northern areas experiencing a drop of 4°C–6°C in daily average temperatures, while southern coastal regions will see a decrease of 3°C–4°C.

The cooling period will be brief, with temperatures across most of Guangdong beginning to rebound slowly from December 5.

In Guangzhou, conditions on December 3 will be cloudy to overcast with isolated drizzles, and temperatures ranging from 16°C to 20°C. By December 4, skies will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures between 13°C and 20°C. Sunshine returns on December 5, with highs of 21°C.

Coastal areas will experience stronger winds. Sea surfaces around Guangdong will see winds of force 6–7, with gusts up to force 8. In the eastern coastal areas, winds may occasionally reach force 7–8, with gusts up to force 9.

Meteorological authorities remind the public that dry conditions persist, elevating forest fire risks. Residents are advised to dress warmly and use heating safely. Sea activities and island travel require caution due to windy conditions.
