Guangdong braces for temperature swings and rain as weak cold front approaches

Temperatures in Guangdong have risen steadily in recent days, but a weak cold front is expected to impact the province from the night of January 26 through January 28, bringing a cumulative temperature drop of 2°C–5°C across most areas.

With frequent temperature fluctuations, especially cooler conditions in the mornings and evenings, residents are advised to keep warm and dress in layers. Light to locally moderate rainfall is forecast for January 27, with rain and fog likely to reduce visibility.

Guangdong Province Weather Forecast

On January 27, most cities and counties in Guangdong will experience overcast skies with light rain, and locally moderate rain in some areas, accompanied by rainy and foggy conditions that may reduce visibility.

Minimum temperatures are expected to be 7°C–10°C in northern Shaoguan and Qingyuan; 14°C–17°C across most of the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong, and Yangjiang; 17°C–20°C in the Leizhou Peninsula; and 10°C–13°C in other areas.

On January 28, scattered light rain in eastern Guangdong will gradually turn cloudy, while the rest of the province will be partly to mostly sunny.

Minimum temperatures will range from 7°C to 10°C in northern Guangdong, 15°C to 18°C in the Leizhou Peninsula, and 11°C to 15°C elsewhere.

The risk of forest fires remains high across the province; caution is advised when using fire both indoors and outdoors. On January 27, reduced visibility due to rain and fog may affect traffic, and drivers are urged to proceed with care.
