Guangdong sees increasing cloud cover amid persistently dry conditions

From December 1 to 2, Guangdong province will be mostly cloudy to overcast, with light rain expected in some cities and counties. The temperature difference between day and night will decrease, and the minimum temperature in northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta will be around 10°C.

At 10 AM on November 29, Typhoon Koto, the 27th typhoon of 2025, was located in the southwestern part of the South China Sea, with a minimum central pressure of 982 hPa. The typhoon is expected to linger and rotate in place while gradually weakening. Although it will not make landfall in Guangdong, it will bring moist air onshore, leading to increased cloud cover and higher humidity levels.

However, since the weather remains dry, the forest fire risk level is still high. To date, all counties and districts in the province have issued a red alert, the highest-level warning, for forest fires. Please remain vigilant regarding fire prevention and the safe use of fire and electricity.

With such dry weather, static electricity is becoming more prevalent. Here are tips for avoiding static electricity.

Easy ways to stay safe from static electricity

1  KEEP THE AIR MOIST

• Use a humidifier.

• Place a basin of water or hang a damp towel.

• Keep indoor plants.

• Mop the floor daily to retain moisture.

2 CHOOSE THE RIGHT CLOTHES

• Opt for cotton, linen, or silk.

• Add anti-static softener when washing sweaters.

• Use anti-static spray on synthetic outerwear.

3  DISCHARGE BEFORE TOUCHING METAL

• Touch a wall or the floor to release static.

• Lightly tap metal objects with a key first.

• Wear cotton gloves when handling metal.

4 KEEP YOUR SKIN MOISTURIZED

• Apply body lotion after showering.

• Use hand cream frequently.

• For frizzy hair, use moisturizing shampoo, apply hair oil, and comb with wood or horn.

5 REPLACE "STATIC-GENERATING" ITEMS

• Use wooden or horn combs instead of plastic.

• Wear shoes with rubber soles.

• Choose cotton or linen for mats and blankets.

• Use cotton or linen sheets and duvet covers.
