Cold snap to continue in Guangdong with lowest temperatures expected midweek

Residents across Guangdong are experiencing a true touch of autumn this week as a cold front continues to push temperatures down. In many cities, morning and evening temperatures have dropped below 20°C, and the province is expected to see the lowest temperatures of this round on Wednesday or Thursday (October 22 or 23) morning.

The Guangdong Meteorological Observatory has forecast continued cooling across the province from October 21 to 22, as the combined influence of Typhoon Fengshen and a cold front brings strong winds over land and sea. Temperatures in most areas are expected to fall by another 3°C to 5°C, with the lowest readings likely to occur on the mornings of October 22 or 23.

By Wednesday (October 22), rain will ease in most areas, though cloudy skies and occasional showers will continue along the southern coast. The day's lowest temperatures are expected to range between 12°C and 15°C in northern areas, 15°C to 18°C across central Guangdong, and 18°C to 21°C near the coast.

On Thursday (October 23), conditions will gradually improve, with western coastal cities remaining cloudy to overcast with light rain, while most other regions will turn partly sunny. Minimum temperatures will generally range between 13°C and 22°C.

In Guangzhou, light rain and cloudy weather are forecast early in the week, with temperatures dipping to 16°C to 21°C on Wednesday (October 22) before rising slightly to 18°C to 24°C on Thursday (October 23).
