Two spectacular performances featuring drones and synchronized light shows will illuminate the Shenzhen sky on Aug. 26 to mark the 45th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The events will begin at 8:26 p.m. Aug. 26 at two locations: the Civic Center in Futian District and Shenzhen Talent Park in Nanshan District. Each venue will host a 6,000‑drone performance lasting 30 minutes, accompanied by a one‑hour light show.

Reservations opened at 9 a.m. today and were fully booked within 46 minutes. Organizers have announced that the event will be livestreamed on the WeChat accounts “文旅深圳” and “第一现场,” encouraging the public to enjoy the grand show online.

During the displays, building façade lighting will change colors and patterns, synchronized with the drone formations to create an immersive, dynamic visual spectacle.

Organizers say the events will set new records in both the number of drones and performance duration, surpassing the previous single‑flight maximum of 15 minutes, according to a release from Shenzhen Fabu - the city government’s official WeChat account.

Last October, Shenzhen staged a 10,000‑drone show over Shenzhen Talent Park to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. That event set two Guinness World Records: the most drones controlled by a single computer at the same time and the most drones involved in a light show.
