The 2025 Tianmu River Midsummer Concert series recently concluded under starlit skies along the illuminated waterfront, marking six weeks of musical celebrations. Held every Friday and Saturday from 18:00 to 21:30 between July 18 and August 23, the event attracted approximately 12,000 attendees across 12 performances, with single-day attendance peaking at nearly 2,500. The concert series significantly boosted nighttime traffic in surrounding areas, demonstrating the power of cultural events to energize urban spaces.
Featuring diverse themes—from pop hits and band performances to tributes to legendary icons, film/anime soundtracks, and classic Cantopop—the concerts transformed the typically serene Tianmu River into a vibrant hub of energy. As night fell, audiences sang along, cheered, and waved glow sticks to the rhythm of the summer breeze.
Artists from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao accounted for 40% of the performers, including Hong Kong SAR's Vincy Chan and Nicola Cheung, Mainland artist Wang Jingwen, Malaysian-Chinese singer Jess Lee, and more. With growing brand influence, attendance from Macao audiences increased by approximately 20% compared to previous years.
Event organizer Mei Songlin, a Macao resident living in the Cooperation Zone, noted: "Free autonomous shuttles and buses were provided at Hengqin Port. Cross-border promotions and word-of-mouth recommendations among Macao residents reinforced that vibrant cultural offerings make a city dynamic—where people can pursue ambitions while enjoying life."
The concert series has evolved into a summer IP showcasing the Cooperation Zone's urban vitality. This initiative not only enriches cultural life but also enhances cultural exchange between Hengqin and Macao, highlighting the Zone's livable and workable lifestyle and integration achievements.
Moving forward, the Cooperation Zone will build on this experience to deliver more high-quality cultural activities, allowing the winds of music to continue sweeping across this land of opportunity while inviting more people to experience the Cooperation Zone's unique cultural charm and community warmth through music and the arts.
