Calligraphy exhibition from five GBA cities concludes in Zhongshan, boosting cultural exchange

A week-long calligraphy exhibition, showcasing selected works from five cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, concluded on January 5 in Zhongshan, Guangdong. The event, titled This Side of the Landscape-Exhibition of Calligraphy Works from Five Regions, aimed to foster regional cultural exchange.

Held at the Zhongshan Cultural Center from December 30, 2025, the exhibition featured 121 calligraphic works from artists in Shenzhen (Nanshan), Zhuhai (Xiangzhou), Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhongshan. The pieces on display represented a range of styles, from classical scripts such as clerical and seal to contemporary interpretations.

Zheng Zhaohui, Vice Chairman of the Nanshan Literary Federation in Shenzhen, noted that the exhibition has evolved into a "vibrant artistic platform and emotional bond," reflecting the increasing cultural integration across the GBA.

"Although each city has its own style, our shared passion for calligraphy transcends regional differences," said Wu Ren, Director of Hong Kong's Cao Shu Calligraphy Institute. Gong Baomei, Chairman of the National Calligraphers Association of Macau, added that such exchanges help "pass on the essence of Chinese culture and inspire creative dialogue."
