New research identifies Xiqiao Mountain as the origin of Xiangyunsha

A recent study has confirmed that Xiqiao Mountain in Foshan is the origin of Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Guangdong Gauze).

On October 11, the "Global Gambiered Silk from Xiqiao Mountain" Investment Promotion Conference and Fashion Show was held in Nanhai, Foshan. During the event, a blue paper detailing the origins of Xiangyunsha from Xiqiao Mountain was released.

Xiangyunsha is a silk category known as "China's only existing silk craft using purely plant-based dyes." It is a living treasure of Chinese silk culture, making its protection and inheritance particularly significant in today's world.

The blue paper stated that Xiqiao Mountain has played an irreplaceable role in the development and inheritance of Xiangyunsha, serving as its origin. Based on detailed historical records and scientific evidence, the blue paper clearly defines Xiqiao Mountain Xiangyunsha for the first time and outlines its complete trajectory, from its origins and flourishing in Xiqiao Mountain to its contemporary revival.

The blue paper also provides recommendations for the industrial development of Xiqiao Mountain Xiangyunsha, based on an analysis of its current state. It proposes that the industry should advance through four key actions: strengthening the ecosystem, enhancing the cultural foundation, building the brand, and amplifying communication.

Additionally, the "Nanhai District Xiqiao Mountain Xiangyunsha Industry Development Action Plan (2025-2027)" was unveiled on-site. According to the plan, Nanhai aims to develop no fewer than 25 related brand companies, achieving a trading volume of at least 3 billion yuan by the end of 2027.
