TÜV Rheinland Greater China signed a project cooperation agreement on Wednesday with the Huangpu district government in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, to invest in the construction of a new operation center.

According to a statement released by the district government, the new center will reside in Guangzhou Development District. It will house research and development spaces, a capability center, and a testing and certification technology service platform.

The investment amounts to approximately 150 million yuan ($21.74 million).

The center's comprehensive testing laboratories will cover an array of modern technologies, including new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicle components, robots and intelligent commercial equipment, low-altitude aircraft, smart home appliances, and related components.

Development services will include management system certification, supply chain quality, and sustainable development assessment. A talent training center will be included, focusing on low-carbon sustainability and intelligent manufacturing upgrading.

The project is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises in the global market and advance the internationalization of industrial technical standards, the statement said.

An independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification body, German TÜV Rheinland has been operating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for more than 30 years.
