A month ago, the first Four Points by Sheraton in Foshan broke ground in Chancheng, with plans to open in 2026. Since the start of this year, Chancheng has also welcomed the establishment of Wyndham Garden Hotel and InterCity Hotel, among others. The century-old hotel giant Langham Hospitality Group, along with the first Cordis Hotel in Guangdong and the first Kimpton hotel in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, have all rushed to set up in Chancheng.
Why has Chancheng become a new hotspot for international hotels? The transformation in the hospitality industry is a significant factor. As the hospitality sector in premier cities faces increased competition, international brands are exploring central urban areas of second and third-tier cities that boast strong regional economies and substantial consumption potential. Being in the center of Foshan, a city with over one trillion yuan GDP, Chancheng has emerged as a prime location.

The flourishing cultural and tourism industry has also contributed to its strong appeal. Last year, Chancheng received 12.8832 million tourists, a 23.4% increase from the previous year. Its total tourism revenue rose by 32.9% year over year to 12.715 billion yuan. During this year's May Day Holiday, Chancheng welcomed nearly one million tourists, representing a year-on-year growth of 21.37%.
Additionally, Chancheng's business development is highly regarded. Most new hotels are being constructed on Jihua Road, Foshan's golden corridor with the highest concentration of office buildings, and are integrated with prominent headquarters like GANI and C&D.
Hotels are not just tourism infrastructure; they also reflect a city's capacity to welcome visitors and directly impact tourists' experiences and lengths of stay. The influx of foreign high-end brands into the market will undoubtedly elevate the overall quality of Chancheng's hospitality industry.
