On August 20, the Civil Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Siemens Factory Automation Engineering Ltd. in Nuremberg, Germany.
The agreement outlines plans to jointly establish a Demonstration Training Zone for Artificial Intelligence (Smart Manufacturing) within the Hengqin-Macao Public Training Center for High-Skilled Talents (both tentative names).
Under the LOI, the collaboration will focus on industry-leading applications, including mechatronic digital twin technologies, industrial artificial intelligence implementations, digital operation and maintenance of industrial robotics, and smart building technology deployment and maintenance.
The partnership will introduce Siemens' Digital Technology Talent Development System and Smart Manufacturing Engineering Certification programs to the Cooperation Zone. This initiative supports Hengqin's "Macao + Hengqin" positioning by integrating high-skilled talent development with Macao's industrial diversification goals, addressing public service needs for vocational training, and accelerating Hengqin-Macao integration.
Siemens—a Fortune 500 company and pioneer of Germany's dual-system vocational education model—will help implement this globally recognized training framework in the Cooperation Zone for the first time, creating an international platform for youth skill enhancement and career development.
From August 19 to 22, a delegation visited Germany to study the country's vocational training systems, industrial automation innovations, and digital production advancements. The visit informed strategies for developing the training center and advancing international high-skilled talent programs.
