Guangdong's Qingyuan gifts crystal pears to seniors for three consecutive years

Since August 13, Lianzhou in Qingyuan, northern Guangdong, has mobilized officials and volunteers to deliver over 26,000 boxes of crystal pears to more than 13,000 residents aged 80 and above. The gesture, filled with "sweetness", is a joint donation from the municipal committee, government, and caring enterprises.

Lianzhou, a county-level city, boasts stunning scenery, rich ecology, and delicious local produce. Dubbed both the "Home of Chinese Crystal Pears" and the "Hometown of Longevity", it has, since 2023, gifted crystal pears to 13,000 seniors annually, sharing this "sweetness" for three consecutive years.

In recent years, guided by the rural revitalization strategy and the "High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages", Lianzhou's specialty agriculture has developed along a more standardized and large-scale path. Its high-quality agricultural products have become well-established in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area market.

This year, the planting area of crystal pears in Lianzhou exceeds 65,000 mu (approximately 10,700 acres), yielding over 70,000 tons annually with an output value of more than 1.2 billion yuan. The crystal pear has become a "sweet industry," boosting enterprise growth, and a "fortune-bringing fruit," improving livelihoods across Lianzhou.
