Guangdong launches themed promotional activities for World Alzheimer's Month

On September 20, ahead of World Alzheimer's Day, the launch ceremony for the 2025 World Alzheimer's Month themed promotional activities in Guangdong Province was held at Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou.

At the event, a comprehensive dementia service collaboration network map across the province was officially unveiled.

This collaboration network comprises three guiding institutions: Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, along with 48 medical institutions as provincial member units.

Additionally, 21 municipal guiding institutions have been identified, and over 500 municipal, county-level, and grassroots member units are included. Together, they are exploring a full-course management service model for dementia in the elderly that integrates medical prevention with treatment and combines traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

At the event site, various areas were set up, including those for free medical consultations, health check-up screenings, science popularization and publicity, as well as interactive games. Additionally, multiple cutting-edge achievements, such as the AI early screening system and the 5G Brain-Heart Mobile Unit, were on display.

Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University has established the first brain-computer interface clinical research ward in South China, exploring the application of non-invasive brain-computer interface technology and opening new avenues for cognitive rehabilitation.

Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital has pioneered DIR protein detection technology, enabling non-invasive and highly sensitive detection of core Alzheimer's disease biomarkers in peripheral blood.

As the only national core advanced cognitive disorder diagnosis and treatment center in South China, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University has taken the lead in conducting non-invasive precision examinations with a diagnostic sensitivity of 98%.

In collaboration with the national computing center, it has developed the BrainCom AI-based early screening and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment system for dementia, providing innovative solutions to address brain health challenges.

The Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University has globally pioneered the 5G brain-heart mobile platform. This platform integrates multiple original research technologies, combining systems for rapid screening and assessment, precise detection of blood markers, brain-computer interface screening and intervention, and digital cognitive rehabilitation.
