Guangzhou North Station, a key stop on the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, is enhancing its services to streamline passenger travel. Since 2021, integration with Huadu Station on the intercity line has allowed transfers between metro, intercity, high-speed, and conventional rail services within approximately five minutes. Despite these improvements, some passengers have found the layout confusing, prompting this guide to help navigate the facility.

Accessing the station

The station features two main entrances: East Square and West Square. Metro users on Line 9 can alight at Guangzhou North Station (Exit C) for direct access to the West Square waiting area. Those preferring the East Square should disembark at Huacheng Station and walk approximately 800 meters to the entrance.

Multiple bus routes serve both squares, with specific lines such as Hua 5, 17, 85, 80, 84, 86, and 702 stopping near the East Square. Other buses, including Hua 62, 63, 68, 70, Night 87, 705, and 706, also stop nearby.

For the West Square, buses Hua 7, 23, and 31B provide direct access.

Taxi, ride-hailing, and private car users can navigate to either entrance using apps like Amap, which offer specific options for "East Entrance" or "West Entrance." Parking is available at both squares, with 10 minutes free for pick-ups and drop-offs.

Ticketing and security

A manual ticket office is located at the East Square for all ticketing needs, while self-service machines are available in both East and West waiting areas and near the West exit. Most passengers can use ID cards for check-in without collecting physical tickets.

All travelers must pass through security screening, where luggage is scanned, drinks may be sampled upon request, and power banks exceeding 100Wh are prohibited.

Transfer and exit options

Passengers transferring between trains should follow underground signs toward the East exit, where staff verify connecting tickets before granting access to the waiting area. Those using the West waiting area must exit and re-enter through security.

The station has two exits: East (suitable for urban Huadu destinations and ticketing services) and West (offering direct connections to the metro and Guangzhou-Qingyuan intercity trains). Taxis are available near both exits if a passenger accidentally chooses the wrong one. Station staff and volunteers are present to assist with navigation or other inquiries.

Operational notes

Due to ongoing construction, the East Square may experience congestion, and intercity rail passengers must use the West Square entrance, as the East Square lacks intercity ticket checks. Travelers are advised to use the West Square for smoother access, especially during peak times.
