During the 2025 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period (October 1–8), Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport managed 12,600 flights and transported 1.95 million passengers, reflecting year-on-year increases of 4.2% and 4.5%, respectively. The busiest day was October 1, when the airport handled 257,100 passengers.
To ensure smooth operations, the airport strengthened gate allocation, baggage handling, check-in, and security processes, coordinated with airlines and weather authorities, and deployed additional staff in busy areas.
The passenger experience was enhanced during the holiday period with the addition of 66 new smart rest pods in Terminal 2 (bringing the total to 116) and 20 new 24-hour shower rooms across both terminals, providing greater comfort for long-haul travelers.
The airport now serves over 230 domestic and international destinations. In 2025, more than 20 new or resumed routes were introduced, including Surabaya and Almaty. During the holiday, popular routes included Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Bangkok, and Singapore. The airport also plans to launch intercontinental flights to Madrid and Darwin, further strengthening its international connectivity and long-haul travel options.
