High-speed train D3627, carrying around 600 workers from Guigang, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, arrived at Guangzhou South Railway Station in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, on Tuesday afternoon.

It marked the first return-to-work special train jointly organized by the human resources and social security departments of Guangdong and Guangxi after the Spring Festival holiday, in collaboration with China Railway Guangzhou Group.

Zhou Ying was among the passengers on the special train. After graduating in 2024, Zhou started working at a tech company in Guangzhou, where she is involved in designing and creating game character models, with a stable income.

"Traveling isn't easy after the Spring Festival holiday, and this trip saved me over 200 yuan in travel expenses," she said.

Huang Feida, from Guigang, works at an electronics factory in Dongguan, Guangdong, where he is mainly responsible for outdoor line installation, equipment setup and routine inspections.

"The human resources department often informs us about employment policies – I came to Guangdong because the benefits and working environment here are good," Huang said.

In another development, two other special trains, which departed from Kunming of Yunnan province and Tongren of Guizhou province, arrived in Guangdong late on Tuesday night.

Human resources and social security authorities in Guangdong will collaborate with local railway authorities to organize 20 return-to-work special trains after the holiday, aiming to provide timely support for enterprises to resume work and production.

By the Lantern Festival, which falls on March 3, nearly 90 percent of workers will return to Guangdong to resume work, according to the Guangdong Human Resources and Social Security Department.
