Metro services adjusted for 2025 Guangzhou Marathon

The 2025 Guangzhou Marathon will take place on December 21, starting at Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center and finishing at Haixinsha Asian Games Park, with around 26,000 runners expected. To ensure smooth operations, Guangzhou Metro will implement a series of service adjustments.

On race day, the first trains at terminal stations on Metro Lines 1 and 3 (including the Line 3 North Extension) as well as the APM Line will begin operating at 5:00. Eligible runners, staff, officials, and volunteers presenting valid race bibs or work credentials may ride the metro free of charge, with dedicated "green channels" arranged at stations for faster access.

Temporary controls will be in place on parts of the APM Line. Tianhe Sports Center South Station will be closed from 5:00 to 7:00, while Haixinsha Station will be closed from 7:00 to 16:00, with trains passing through without stopping. In addition, Exit A of Guangzhou Opera House Station will be closed from 7:00 to 16:00, while other exits remain open.

Meanwhile, Tram Haizhu Line 1 will begin operations at 13:30 on December 21 due to the race route. Passengers are advised to follow station announcements and plan their journeys in advance.
