Aotou's table: Where heritage meets rural revitalization

Can you smell it? This is the most vibrant life along the Tropic of Cancer. Summer breezes sweep across Aotou Town's vast fields in Conghua District, Guangzhou. A rustic "Aotou feast" carries a century-old spirit of ambition.

Sour vinegar soup, bamboo shoots, roasted pigeon, stewed pork… Nature's blessings become an unadorned banquet in local hands. From Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) workshops to smart farms, Aotou's food basket now embodies the universe of rural revitalization.

Legend says Aotou was once called "Cow's Head (牛头)." When a local scholar won a poetry contest in the Qing Dynasty, villagers renamed it Aotou—meaning "lead the pack." That spirit still flows in their veins.

From cultural pride to rural innovation, Aotou crafts a vibrant response to revitalization—with flavor, heritage, and boldness.
