Chinese New Year is the most festive time of the year in China. In Guangdong, the season comes alive in a uniquely local way: wandering through flower fairs, exchanging red envelopes, putting up lucky couplets, and perhaps sharing a New Year's Eve meal with friends from all over the world. Everyone celebrates differently, and every experience tells a story.
From February 4 to March 3, IP Guangdong and INFO Guangdong invite expats living, studying, or working in Guangdong to take part in the "My Chinese New Year, Guangdong Style" open call. We're looking for authentic, personal stories that capture what the Chinese New Year in Guangdong looks and feels like, through your eyes and in your style.

It might be your very first Chinese New Year, full of curiosity and discovery. Or it might be one of many, shaped by years of living here and calling Guangdong home. Your story could be about a shared meal, a short trip, or a reunion with friends. It could reflect cultural surprises or everyday life during the holiday. What matters most is that it's real and genuinely yours.
This open call focuses on the Chinese New Year experience from international participants. If you or those around you have photos or videos that capture the wider spirit of Chinese New Year, works can also be submitted to IP Guangdong's global photography and video open call, "My Chinese New Year," by scanning the QR code below.

Works will be reviewed based on content and storytelling impact. Outstanding entries may be featured across IP Guangdong and INFO Guangdong's websites, social media channels, and partner media outlets including South. Creators of selected works will also receive a special gift.
