On the evening of February 8, the 2026 Pingyuan Spring Festival Lantern Fair officially illuminated Cuiyong Park in Pingyuan County (平远县翠拥公园), Meizhou.
Jointly hosted by the Nansha District of Guangzhou and Pingyuan County of Meizhou, the month-long event will offer residents and visitors a festive cultural and tourism celebration that blends rich heritage with contemporary vibrancy.
By integrating holographic projections, traditional lanterns, and themed decorative lighting with modern light-and-shadow technologies, the fair transforms the Cross Street area into an immersive public space that brings together showcases of intangible cultural heritage, creative markets, and community activities.
The lantern displays will remain on view until March 8, lighting up daily from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Running alongside the lantern fair is a Spring Festival Market with 35 booths, open from February 8 to February 24. The market is divided into four themed zones: New Year festivities zone, Pingyuan agricultural products zone, Hakka cuisine zone, and folk culture experience zone.

2026 Spring Festival stage performances
From February 17 to February 23, a themed cultural performance will be staged daily from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
2026 New Year "Fu" giveaway
On February 23, calligraphy masters will handwrite and gift "Fu" (Blessing) characters to visitors at the lantern market.
2026 intangible cultural heritage parade
On the evenings of February 17, February 18, and March 3, four carp-lantern parade teams will weave through the lantern and market areas.
2026 lantern riddle festival
On March 3, around 1,300 themed lantern riddles will be set up. Visitors who solve the riddles can redeem prizes on-site.
