Recently, Huizhou No. 8 Middle School (Jinquan Campus) held a mock trial with students acting as judge, prosecutor, and defense counsel—an innovative class showcasing the city's "12355 First Rule of Law Class" public legal education program.
To strengthen students' legal awareness and self-protection, Huizhou's "12355 First Rule of Law Class" has received nearly 130 requests since the start of the fall semester. The program has been implemented in 74 schools, reaching 36,394 teachers and students—marking a six-year high in both demand and coverage.
Over the past six years, the initiative has benefited nearly 280,000 teachers and students. By drawing on real-life cases such as campus injuries and online tipping, it engages students through role-play scenarios, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the law.
The "12355" is a helpline established by the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) in 2006, which offers more than 400,000 psychological and legal consultations to teenagers across the country every year.
