On July 24, Typhoon Krosa, the ninth typhoon of the year, formed in the Pacific Ocean. Alongside Francisco and Co-may, three typhoons are now active in the northwest Pacific. As a result, most parts of Guangdong are expected to experience continued high temperatures and frequent thunderstorms in the coming days.
Typhoon Rosa is not expected to affect China. However, Francisco and Co-may are located close to each other and may interact, potentially leading to shifts in their paths.
Typhoon Francisco, the seventh typhoon of the year, formed in the northwest Pacific on Wednesday morning and is expected to approach coastal areas from southern Zhejiang province to northern Fujian province this weekend.
In the coming days, high temperatures in northern and central Guangdong are expected to increase, while thunderstorms will become more pronounced in western Guangdong and southern parts of the Pearl River Delta. Coastal areas in eastern Guangdong and the southeastern Pearl River Delta are forecast to experience frequent afternoon thunderstorms.
Authorities have noted that the typhoon season began later than usual this year but has seen a higher frequency of storms. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat and sunstroke, especially during active showers and thunderstorms.
