Reception in Guangzhou commemorates Vanuatu's 45th Independence Day

On July 30, the Consulate General of the Republic of Vanuatu in Guangzhou hosted a reception to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vanuatu's independence, which also marked the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu. Representatives from both countries attended the ceremony, along with guests from various sectors of society. 

The 45th Independence Day Reception of the Republic of Vanuatu is hosted in Guangzhou.

"I would like to thank the Chinese government for the significant assistance your country has provided to the people of Vanuatu," said Jacques Himford, Consul General of Vanuatu in Guangzhou. He emphasized the valuable support China has extended to Vanuatu in key areas such as education, infrastructure, and disaster response.

He also praised China for demonstrating the responsibility and leadership of a major country in international affairs, highlighting the importance of exchange and cooperation between nations. "As Consul General of the Republic of Vanuatu in Guangzhou, I would like to express my appreciation for the quality of discussions with the Chinese authorities and the interest they have shown in helping develop our young nation."

Gift-giving session is held at the reception to mark China-Vanuatu friendship.

Li Xin, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), emphasized the close cooperation and profound friendship between China and Vanuatu.

She pointed out that Guangdong and Vanuatu have achieved significant outcomes in high-level exchanges, friendship, people-to-people interactions, and livelihood assistance. With the advancement of Guangdong, new cooperation opportunities will be offered to countries around the world, including Vanuatu.

Notably, this August, Foshan, a city in Guangdong, will send a cultural performance troupe to Vanuatu to participate in the 5th Vanuatu National Arts Festival.

Li Xin expressed that she looked forward to high-quality partnerships between China and Vanuatu in areas such as trade, education, culture, and tourism. "We are willing to work together with the Consulate General of Vanuatu in Guangzhou and friends from all sectors to seize the opportunities presented by the Greater Bay Area development."
