New Zealand's rising folk singer-songwriter Tim Walker will bring his poetic melodies to Chinese audiences for the first time with the launch of his debut Asia tour, Ballad of Southern Alps. The tour will kick off in Shenzhen, Guangdong, South China, on July 11 at the Bay Opera of Shenzhen.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Tim Walker wrote his first song at age of 11. After years of quiet songwriting, he released his debut album You/Me in 1996 to critical acclaim—marking the beginning of his career as a "folk poet." Known for his gentle voice and delicate lyrics, Tim Walker has touched millions with songs like It Hurts the Heart, which has gained over 30 million streams worldwide. His breakout success on platforms like TikTok—where his music has racked up over 100 million views—has established him as one of today’s most compelling voices in folk music.

His songwriting is characterized by vulnerability and honesty. Often compared to personal letters or diary entries, Tim Walker's music explores universal themes of memory, heartache, healing, and human connection. His lyrics avoid complexity, instead aiming to soothe and resonate—as he writes in Lullabies, "Sing me a lie I can sleep in."
The Shenzhen performance promises an intimate acoustic set, with Tim Walker performing solo on guitar and vocals. Fans can expect a curated setlist featuring iconic tracks like It Hurts the Heart, You/Me, and Lullabies, along with several unreleased songs making their live debut.
