On July 27, during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Xue Kunyang, Deputy General Manager of Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area Industrial Investment Co., and Dr. Wan Yulong, Head of OPPO's Intelligent Assistant Department, engaged in a strategic discussion on the future of the AI industry ecosystem and its role in urban development.
Their dialogue focused on key trends shaping the sector, including advancements in computing power and intelligent technologies, while underscoring Dongguan's growing ambitions as an emerging hub for AI innovation.
The conversation highlighted the Binhaiwan Bay Area's strategic potential in leveraging AI to drive regional growth, with both experts emphasizing the critical role of computing infrastructure and smart solutions in shaping the next generation of urban development. Their exchange reinforced Dongguan's commitment to positioning the Binhaiwan Bay Area as a forward-looking AI ecosystem, where industry collaboration and technological breakthroughs can fuel sustainable progress.
Dr. Wan noted OPPO's decision to establish its AI operations in the Binhaiwan Bay Area, citing advantages such as proximity to businesses and talent. With its strategic location between Shenzhen and Dongguan, the Binhaiwan Bay Area enables efficient communication and the rapid deployment of a global computing center to meet growing demands.
He emphasized that developing smart devices requires extensive training of large models. OPPO’s global computing center supports this effort, allowing for the sharing of new technologies with partner teams to foster collaboration.
Dr. Wan also highlighted the importance of devices like smartphones in understanding user needs, particularly in the health tech sector. OPPO’s sports health lab in the Binhaiwan Bay Area supports this with advanced facilities for data collection and environmental simulation.
Xue added that companies with operations in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Dongguan are well-positioned to invest in the Binhaiwan Bay Area, benefiting from the area's integrated services and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's efficient transportation network. Binhaiwan offers diverse industrial spaces that support the entire lifecycle of development and production.
